Abstract: A number of joint projects between industry and research has produced remarkable results both from an academic and commercial viewpoint. The results have advanced state-of-the-art in a number of key aspects of embedded systems: user interfaces, optimization, verification and tools. In all the succesfull projects, there has been a strategic focus on producing results that were BOTH at a high academic level and had practical applications. Some of these results are presented together vith highlights of ongoing projects.
